Plant
Disease
To avoid plant disease in organic
gardening, choose disease resistant plants and plant them in
their prime conditions. Many diseases will spread because of
constant moisture and bad air circulation, so the site of your
garden and the way it is watered can help ensure against
diseases.
Plant diseases are caused by microscopic
organism that come in three varieties.
Fungi are plants that cannot
produce chlorophyll. Examples would be potato blight, mildew
and rusts. Fungi are more likely to occur in warm humid
places. Prevention is the best method by using good healthy
garden practices. Good air circulation, proper watering
techniques, disease resistant plants and the careful use of
accepted fungicides. These are products that use neem,
insecticidal soaps, vegetable oils and natural sulfur to name
a few.
Avoid watering in the evening can help
to prevent fungi. During summer, you may experience high
humidity, which might result in lot of problems in your
garden. To get your plants nice and dry, tuck them in for
night. In addition to this watering in the evening may be
avoided to prevent damage to the plants.
Bacterial infections are
single-celled organisms that rapidly divide. They enter the
plants through exposed areas of the plants caused by cut.
Examples are rots and cankers. To treat just remove the
affected areas and keep your plants clean.
Viruses are genetic material that
enter the cells of plants and replicate themselves. They are
transmitted by insects such as aphids and whiteflies. Once
they are detected control them by getting rid of the insect
carriers. Find certified virus free plants to begin your
garden to lessen the impact of viral infections.
